The first reason we fell in love with our house was because it is surrounded by trees. Anyone who has trees in their yard knows that can be a good thing and a bad thing. Two times a year we (well, I guess I should say "Daddy") have to deal with some major messes due to the trees. In the spring there is about 3 weeks of non-stop cotton floating in the air. As magical as it is for the kids - "it's snowing in June!" "it's like living in a snow globe!" - it is a huge pain to clean up. And it kind of prevents any outdoor eating unless you want fluff in your food. The second time of year is now - the fall. The leaves. Again, the kids enjoy them for a while but then the real work starts when (and I definitely can't say "we" here) Dad cleans out the gutters, rakes, piles, blows, bags, and trashes millions of leaves.
Here is a small glimpse at the leaf piles - I started taking pictures way too late.
This is the tail end of the huge job that took half the day.
And there are still leaves on the trees...
