Monday is my laundry day. Well...I guess should clarify that and say that Monday is the day that I start my laundry. By the time I do all the loads, fold the clothes and put them away, it is usually...well...Monday again! I need to get the baskets empty of the clean clothes so I can put the dirty clothes in to start my laundry! Sad but true. Anyway, I am not that great about checking pockets before I toss clothes in the washer and since my kids are like little squirrels - I usually discover some little treasure at the bottom of the machine after almost every load. Unless it is something sticky or stain-producing, discovering the little treasures brings a smile to my face as I try to figure out why in the world my kids would put such a thing in their pocket! A while back, I decided to start a collection of these little items in a cup on a shelf in my laundry room. I finally decided to take inventory and this is what I found:
plastic cockraoch
bobble-head puppy
piece of shredded baseball
plastic saddle
soda can tab
Lincoln Log piece
AA battery
twist tie
tiny army figure with no feet
rock
rifle shell casing (?)
flattened pencil eraser
purple grape eraser
quarter
name tag pin
necklace chain
screw
tiny black plastic beetle
large, plastic, pointy, thing?
several small metal scraps
penny
tiny silver bell
small green bead
metal nut
not pictured:
small plastice orange cube
blue squishy frog
black button

That is so cute. Something most moms don't think to save, but what memorabilia.
Wow, I can completely relate! What a great post and what a fun idea to collect all the pocket paraphenalia!!!! Thanks for sharing.
This is such a great idea for a blog entry, Emily! Very ordinary but very creative at the same time. I like how something so small illuminates something special about your family.
Such curious, lively, and FUN kids. Judging from the contents of their pockets you can conclude they are busy having fun a lot!
that is awesome! We are the same way at our house... packrats... ;-)
Oh my funny!!!
That's hilarious!! What cool kids! Although I did find a handful of bb's at the bottom of my washer one time. Hmmm ... access to the bb's but not the gun. Guess he was just saving them! ;)
Gotta love boys!
