Wild China. We are actually in the middle of watching this but I still don't hesitate in recommending it. From the creators of Planet Earth, this BBC series explores the rural areas and exotic wildlife of China. My entire family is completely fascinated by the cultural diversity and beautiful landscape of this magnificent country.
The Dish. This little Australian comedy is based on the true story of a huge satellite dish located in a small town in Australia. This dish played a key role in transmissions from the first moon landing. It's kind of quirky but enjoyable mostly because it is based on actual events.
Hoodwinked. I missed this one when it came out in theaters (did it?). Addie watched it at school and recommended it for the whole family. It was cute, clever and funny.
Bleak House. This joins the ranks with the other fantastic Masterpiece/BBC productions of Dickens' classics such as Little Dorrit and Our Mutual Friend. These movie adaptations of Dickens' novels are rich with memorable characters and convoluted plots. I love almost anything in this genre.
Thank goodness for netflix!

Based on your recommendation, I watched The Dish and liked it quite a bit. I'd never heard of Wild China, but I put it on my Netflix queue and moved it straight to the top. It sounds like something right down my alley. Thanks for the recommendations.
Hooray for netflix and your recs. I'm following Kip's lead.

I just took a plunge and bought my own x-mas present -- a bunch of the BBC DVDs. You can borrow anytime! They are wonderful!
Thanks. I needed some ideas!
