Addie's First Prom!

It was the big day of Prom!
First there was the day date.  They went to Nate's house for pizza and ice cream and jumped in some bouncy houses.  After the day date, it was off to the hair salon where Addie's dreams came true with this updo!  And no that is not Wes waiting in the background.
Addie came home and changed into her dress and she looked so beautiful I couldn't stop taking pictures of her!

Patiently waiting for her date to arrive.
The one slip up of the day was that Addie forgot to order a boutineer.  Fortunately a local florist was able to put one together at the last minute and all was well.  Here she is with her date Nate T.
They had a wonderful evening and I don't think Addie could have been more pleased with her first Prom!

Missed March Posts

There were a few important events in March that I neglected blogging about.
First - MY DAD TURNED 80!!  To celebrate, Kip arranged for a private tour of the Sacred Gifts exhibit at the Museum of Art at BYU.  Mark Magleby - the museum director guided us through the exhibit while sharing interesting information and his own personal feelings about the paintings.  It was very fascinating and a wonderful opportunity.  After we had ice cream at the Cougareat.

My dad is in a wheelchair because he injured his knee playing racquetball.  80 years old and still fit as a fiddle!  We love you Papa!
Isaac enjoyed at day at the state science fair.  He did not get any awards but he won this nerf gun at the raffle!  He was pretty pleased!
My cousin Randy married lovely Amanda!  What a sweet couple!  And the kids were lucky enough to perform a musical number at their wedding.
I love these beautiful ladies!
Sarah received an assignment at school to send in pictures of herself with her pets.  So here goes!.....
Max
Cottontail
Millie
Shakira
and Siegfried!
And we expect Harold the goat to be with us by next week!

Prom!

Addie was surprised to receive 2 invitations to Junior Prom the evening of her birthday! It was a little too much drama for someone being asked on their first date. But it all worked out.

Here is how one of the guys asked.  He left this large glass jar on our front doorstep.
With these notes:
Addie unscrambled the letters on the paper leaves to discover who it was.
And inside the jar?  A real live walking stick insect!  The kids named him Siegfried and call him "Siggy" for short.

It s been a lot of fun for the kids!

Sweet Sixteen - the Festivities!

Addie's birthday celebration started the day before her birthday.  She was joined by two close friends for ice skating, dinner at PF Changs and a performance of Big River at the Hale Center Theater.  It was the perfect to start to a wonderful weekend!

This year our dear friend and neighbor Sherri has given my kids the best birthday cakes they will ever have!  And she totally came through with Addie.
That night Isaac wanted to create a balloon booby trap for Addie when she woke up on her birthday.  Wes helped him set it up.
The next morning we met up with Papa, Kip, and Amy and Tess and their kids at IHOP for a birthday breakfast.  Addie received some very fun gifts.
Papa gave Addie this lovely ivory necklace that was purchased by her great, great, great grandmother and namesake Adeline Ross in 1919.  It is so beautiful and such a treasure!
The whole crew.
We surprised Addie with a trip to Wheeler Farms which is where her cousin Sarah volunteers.  The true surprise was yet to come!!!  Addie said hello to the horses (she has recently developed a love for horses and horseback riding).

Then Tess and Sarah surprised her with a leash and collar - but for what?!!!!  The collar had a tag with the name "Harold" on it.  But who's Herald?
Addie could not contain her excitement!!!

Introducing....... Herald!  Addie's new 1 month old goat.  Herald is a pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf mix.  He was born to Emmie - a goat that belonged to Tess.  We purchased him for Addie for her birthday.
It was a wonderful surprise for all the kids!

Herald was very playful and social - much more so that I expected.

In the pen next to Emmie and Herald was his father - a Nigerian Dwarf goat.

Another friendly goat saying hello to Papa.
Addie could not have been more thrilled with her birthday surprise (unless it would have been a horse!).

Cate with Emmie - Herald's mother.

After playing with Herald, we wandered around Wheeler Farms.
Isaac stump jumping.

That evening we attended the General Womens Meeting.  The excitement continued when Addie was asked to go to Junior Prom twice that night!!!!  But that is for another post...
The next day we had Grandpa Dave and Grandma Connie over for dinner. Grandpa Dave and Addie have the same birthday!

Happy Birthday to two wonderful people that we love so much!
