Magnificent Hike

(Apologies for the crazy picture format.)

Here are some pictures from our hike to Angels Landing in Zion. This 5 miler was pretty strenuous and not meant for anyone afraid of heights. Uh...yeah. Understandable when hiking to the top of this!

This is what the first part looked like (as viewed from above):

Then we got some relief from the blazing morning sun and hiked for a while in "refrigerator canyon"

Next was "Walter's Wiggles"

See the trail behind Wes? The one that tops the narrow cliff with sheer vertical 1000 ft. drop-offs? That's where we were heading.

It was a long way down. Thank goodness for those chains! I only recently developed a mild fear of heights after having children. I would have been having panic attacks if they would have been there.

It was tough scrambling up that last bit to the top. (Don't make fun of my hat. I bought it for trek and it was all I had with me.)

At last we reached the top.

Talk about incredible views!

Way to go!!! I'm impressed. I don't know if I have what it takes to do Angel's Landing. So scary!!! Hiking to Hidden Canyon with the kids was pretty freaky for me. I can't believe we did that with them.

I'm sorry that you had to miss out on Cancun, but this trip looks incredible nonetheless. I've never done Angel's Landing...and now I'm jealous of you! It looks like a really great trip. Congrats.

Those hikes look amazing! Ryan did Angel's Landing once (I had no clue what it was like) and when he showed me pictures afterwards I was glad that I hadn't known what he was doing. It looks so scary to me, but still very beautiful.

Your hat looks mighty fine, but the hat Wes is wearing .... well, that could produce a few laughs.

Wow! I'm so jealous that you could do that. The height thing would paralyze me. Maybe I could do it blindfolded. Except I'm twice as dizzy when I can't see. Hum.

Maybe I'll just live through you on this one. Enjoying the views from your camera.

I did that hike with a group of young women once. I was freaking out the whole time! But it is an awesome hike. I love Zion's.

I love to hike but no way, no how would you have convinced me to do that one! I'm terrified of heights. Good for you.
