Summer Trip to the East - Virginia - La Vallee

La Vallee - our home for a week in Virginia. It was a lovely restored farmhouse sitting on 650 acres in the middle of Goochland county.  The estate dates back to 1715 and at one time was owned by a Major General of the Confederate Army.  It was everything that we could have hoped for and more!

A 200 year old pecan tree towers over the home.  Supposedly it's the largest pecan tree in Virginia.  It provided the most luscious shade!
The inside:

The outside views and such:
The view of the pecan tree from below
The view from the front of the house towards the driveway
Private pool (the private lake can be seen in the distance)

The 6 acre lake perfect for the paddleboat and fishing

Sitting in the shade of the pecan tree, I heard the most beautiful bird calls.  And one evening I spotted a cardinal!  A first for me!

Private tennis court

Fresh herbs for the taking!

This was one of the most charming, unique and relaxing places we've ever stayed!
