Kanab and More...

We just got back from a fun-filled vacation to Kanab. What on earth is there to do in Kanab, you say? Well, I'll tell you!
But I need to back up a little because before we met our friends in Kanab, we went with my family to Cedar City to the Shakespearean Festival. This festival has always been one of my favorite summer events and I really missed going during the years we were away. Since our return to the state, we have been twice and although it isn't quite as magical as I remember as a child - it is still very enjoyable just the same. Unfortunately we haven't seen any "Shakespeare" yet and I am still looking forward to when I can introduce my kids to an authentic "Shakespeare" put on in the outdoor Adams theater. Anyway, this year we took the older kids to "Fiddler on the Roof." This musical has a special place in my heart because I played one of the younger daughters - "Shprintze" in "Fiddler" at the Sundance Summer Theater when I was 15. Well this production was wonderful and the talent was amazing. Here we are watching the Green Show.

Audience participation is expected but we were all a little surprised when a young man was called up and he ended up proposing to his girlfriend on the stage.
We even spotted Fred Adams (the man on the left) - the founder of the Shakespearean Festival. My family ran into him again right before the play and the kids got to shake his hand.
The next morning we said goodbye to my family and headed on to Kanab. On the way we stopped at Navajo lake and hiked to Cascade Falls. It was the perfect temperature, the perfect distance, and of course, the perfect landscape.

On to Kanab!

You guys are such a fun group! We LOVE the Shakespeare festival, too, and went every year when we were first married with all Chris' family (no kids -- noone else was married.) It has gotten too crazy to do over the years, but we love Cedar City and the festival . . . thanks for the reminder of such a great memory!

Wish we were closer, cousin! :)

What a fun thing to do. I've not been to the festival since Thespian Conference our senior year. I should go. And that hike looks beautiful!

A couple of comments I would like to make on you adventures to Southern Utah:
1.Wes looks like he is up to something when he's watching the green show.
3. Who one the long jump contest?
3. You must be exhausted
4. Those beautiful hikes had Mat drooling.
5. What a fun idea and I'm glad it worked out. Say your friends were going to do this someday, is anything you would do differently?
6. Weston needs more vacation time.
7. You must be exhausted
