Memorial Day 2014

This year we had the unexpected surprise of seeing a bunch of our Beck relatives at Grandma and Grandpa's grave.  We are accustomed to just seeing my dad's side of the family on Memorial Day.  But it was wonderful to see my mom's family too!

Aunt Linda asked us to share some memories of Grandma and Grandpa Beck.

We said goodbye to Florence and Elden and walked over to visit my mom's grave, my brother peter's grave and the other Clark graves.
Still hard to believe and accept so I try not to dwell on it.

3 Clark sisters left
My dad with his 3 sisters (including his twin sister standing next to him)
It has always been tradition to decorate Grandma and Grandpa Clark's grave with spring flowers.

After we decorated the graves, my dad hosted a very lovely lunch at his condo.

Dance Competition and Recital

We immersed Cate in dance this year and she absolutely flourished!  Here are some pictures from one of the dance competitions she attended.
Her group performed a hip hop dance to the music from Despicable Me.  They are dressed up as Minions.  Cate is on the front row, third girl in from the Right.

Her dance company performed a darling dance called Snow in Venice.
The awards ceremony.
Pictures from the dance performance.

Sweet Sisters
Our wonderful extended family that gives us so much support!

Cate is such a beautiful girl and a beautiful dancer!

Mother's Day 2014

My dad was kind enough to host our Mother's Day dinner this year.  As much as we wanted to eat outside, it was too cold.  He was set up ready to go!
Wes made a very impressive fruit plate!
Homemade peach pies - it doesn't get any better than that!

The burnt rolls were the only mishap of the day.
Of course, Mother's Day will continue to be a bittersweet day for me and my family.  In order to remember my dear mother, I made these necklace pendants - one for each girl in the family.
And to make it even more special, my dad gave each daughter a piece of my mother's jewelry.  This is Amy wearing the pendant I made along with the necklace that belonged to my mother.
I vividly remember my mother wearing this elephant carved from ivory.  She gave me a tiny ivory elephant that I wore on a necklace when I was a little girl.
