Although I really enjoyed this book - keep in mind it is a classic 50's romance novel. But it is (loosely) based on actual events and people. It is set in England in the 1300s. But since I have a soft spot for this kind of thing - I loved it.
This was a fun read. It is written for ages 9-12 and I think was made into a movie - but I haven't seen it.
I don't mind reading a Dan Brown novel every once and a while to mix things up a bit! Not only was this exciting and suspenseful but also interesting as it delves into the history of the Masons. Also - if you love Washington D.C. - you should read this for the familiar geographical locations alone!
Several months ago at the book fair I was discussing with the librarian some book recommendations for my kids. She told me that she doesn't purchase very many books because she has access to the library. But she said this book was definitely one she would buy for her personal library. I took the time to read it before Addie received it for Christmas. It was delightful and the illustrations were beautiful.
I hesitated to list this book because I haven't finished it. But I have really enjoyed it so far! It is funny and quirky and interesting. I love that it is based on real people. Great stories. I have heard the movie isn't as good.
