Too Late for Christmas Craft Idea

Even though Christmas is over - I decided to share this craft idea because it really could be done any time of the year. And we were so pleased with the results.

I bought this Martha Stewart Glittered Bird Note Card Kit thinking that the kids could make them for Christmas cards for their teachers or grandparents. I kept putting it off and putting it off (mainly because I didn't want to face the glitter mess) until just a few days before Christmas. Well it didn't turn out to be that messy after all and the birds turned out so beautiful that we decided to turn them into Christmas tree ornaments instead.

The best part about it was that no glue was involved. The birds already had adhesive and the kids just had to pour the glitter over the different sections. The glitter was very fine and stuck to their hands but we kept it contained pretty well.










I bought my kit at Big Lots but I believe they sell it at Walmart so if you are looking for a fun and beautiful craft project to do with your kids - this is a great idea. I think the note cards would have turned out really great too!

Christmas 2009

Another Christmas has come and gone. Our days have been filled with time spent with family, yummy traditional foods, Christmas music, good friends, gifts, games, toys, craft projects, playing in the snow, more yummy food and more time spent with family!

We have had wonderful family get-togethers every day this week - Tuesday being the day Wes was on call so we all stayed close to home! These are the pictures I took at my parents' traditional Christmas Eve party (now held on the 23rd).















It was a wonderful celebration!

Birthday

It's his birthday shout Hooray!


Here are 10 random things you may or may not know about the birthday boy:

1. He can play "House of the Rising Sun" on the autoharp

2. He likes to jump. And he can jump pretty high! He jumps over things like...our kids. He was trying on some shoes at Cabelas the other night. He took two steps and jumped over a shopping cart right there in the shoe department!

3. He used to wrestle in high school. And still loves to wrestle with the kids. "Super-squeezer," "Super-tickler" and "Super-puncher" are their nicknames.

4. He can't stand to hear the word "moisture" - and goes around whispering it in everyone's ear.

5. Likes to imagine he is Bear Grylls - and is one step closer now since I gave him some "Bear Grylls" pants for his birthday.

6. Took a course in "Flexibility" and "Badminton" in college.

7. He is a huge scouter and became Wood Badge certified in his early twenties.

8. Took me rock climbing for our first date.

9. He is a "cat person" not a "dog person."

10. Eats instant oatmeal with hot water from the tap every morning for breakfast.

Ever since he was a kid - he felt jilted because his birthday was so close to Christmas. So let's give him a shout-out on his special day ok? Leave your birthday wishes and anything else "random" you remember about Wes.

Vocal Recital

Addie did a great job at her vocal recital on Saturday. Not only did she look beautiful - she sounded amazing as well.

Dance Recital

From about age 2 it was obvious that this little princess (she's always asking me, "Mom am I a real princess?") looooved to dance. Last year she tried ballet and Irish dancing. This year she took a creative dance class from my amazingly talented sister. The dance was called Asian Winter. Her are some pictures of her warming up with the rest of the dancers.

Trimming the Tree

This post is about three days in the making because of computer problems - but finally here are some pictures of the kids decorating the tree.

It is our tradition to give each child a new ornament each Christmas. Here are the ornaments they received this year...
