We spent the weekend in Las Vegas for A's gymnastics meet. We were a little unsure of what we were going to do in Vegas with 4 kids for 4 days but it ended up being a great vacation. Here's the rundown.
The first night we saw this show with the two older kids. What a riot! Completely bizarre but tons of fun. The kids loved it!

The Lady Luck Invitational was the next day and included gyms from Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Arizona and California. A took 9th place for her age group on the uneven bars. You go girl!
That night we just relaxed in the hotel.
The next day started off with breakfast at The Rainfor*st Cafe at the MGM Gr*nd.
The very tired MGM lions (as seen from below).
Then it was off to the gym pool/pizza party.
That evening we ventured into the city again. We ate dinner and watched the talking statue shows at Ceas*rs Palace and then watched the fountain shows at The Bel*agio (coding the casino names to avoid showing up in any web searches).
Last of all we visited the Hoover Dam. We ran out of time and stamina so we didn't take the tour but it was still very interesting. What was almost just as amazing is the bridge that they are building to divert the traffic off of the dam.
I was a skeptic about taking kids to Las Vegas before this trip. However, I can see now that there is actually a lot to do and see. We did have to walk through our fair share of casinos but it was tolerable. And the streets and casinos have cleaned up a lot since the last time we visited (more than 10 years ago!). We had a great time. Thanks to bro Shawn and friend Melissa for activity ideas and babysitting hook-ups!

I'm so glad you had fun! I'm glad you liked the show and got to go! :)
That sounds like a really great family weekend. And way to go Addie! Congratulations. I can't wait to see where this girl goes!
CONGRATS ADDIE!!!!!!!!!
Gosh, it seems like yesterday you peered over the church bench and whispered, "My name is Addi too, but I spell it with an e". That was 5 YEARS AGO!!!!
I am soo proud of you!!
so fun. congratulations to Addie! I love the bellag. fountains. I think they are my favorite thing in Vegas.
Sounds like a whole bunch of fun. And congrats to A on her medal!
Ah, Vegas! When Sadie was born there 11 years ago, it was still trying to be a family place -- Treasure Island still had a cool pirate show -- not naked merrmaids. Anyway -- it is OK in small doses, I think -- there certainly are MANY things to see . . .
Oh my goodness! You people are just goers and doers and you're amazing. Congrats to A. and glad to hear you had a good time.
BOY, YOU SURE CRAMMED A LOT OF FUN THINGS INTO A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME! I HAVE HELPED CHAPERONE KATHERINE'S GYMNASTICS---TWICE TO SO CAL AND DISNEYLAND, AND ONCE TO PHOENIX. THE MEETS ARE GREAT!
GOod grief! Your kids are growing like weeds!! Looks like such a fun trip!
Hey, so I have a card/letter that I need to send you guys, and was wondering if you could email me your address? That'd be super!!
p.s.
Tell Addie, way to go!!!!! Uneven bars have always been my favorite!
So here I am, finally among the blogging world. I am breaking my own rule of being caught up on my own blog before commenting on others...I guess that sounds a little selfish. Anyway, I have enjoyed getting caught up with your life...kind of. I didn't read everything, but enough to see life is great. I will catch up on other posts later. I particularly liked the picture of C at Hoover Dam. Way to go A! You are very talented! I have been thinking about taking Hannah, but a little wary of Sin City. It looks like all was well. Thanks for all the great suggestions!
